|Update: On October 15, 2021 Daniel J. Rhoton was arrested by law enforcement officials in a neighboring jurisdiction on unrelated charges. He was subsequently served with the K.P.D. warrant for Aggravated Robbery while already in custody.
As of the time of issuance of this news release, Mr. Rhoton remains confined in the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

On October 14, 2021, shortly after 3:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to a robbery at the Shell gas station and convenience store, located at 120 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. Their investigation revealed the following:
Moments earlier, a suspect, since identified as Daniel J. Rhoton, entered the store, intimidated the clerk with threats of a gun, and demanded all of the money. Mr. Rhoton fled the scene shortly thereafter with some merchandise and an undisclosed amount of cash.
A warrant has been obtained, charging Mr. Rhoton with Aggravated Robbery. Due to the threats he made of having a gun, he should be considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be traveling in a maroon 1996 Honda Accord.
