As of the time of issuance of this news release, Mr. Rhoton remains confined in the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

As previously released:

On October 14, 2021, shortly after 3:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to a robbery at the Shell gas station and convenience store, located at 120 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. Their investigation revealed the following:

Moments earlier, a suspect, since identified as Daniel J. Rhoton, entered the store, intimidated the clerk with threats of a gun, and demanded all of the money. Mr. Rhoton fled the scene shortly thereafter with some merchandise and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A warrant has been obtained, charging Mr. Rhoton with Aggravated Robbery. Due to the threats he made of having a gun, he should be considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be traveling in a maroon 1996 Honda Accord.
