SUBJECT: | K.P.D. Investigating Extensive Vandalism to Kingsport Greenbelt | |||

GENERAL NARRATIVE | ||||
During the month of July 2021, the Kingsport Greenbelt has been vandalized no less than four separate times. The vandal has spray painted vulgar words and symbols on numerous signs, benches, and trees, as well as all over the pathway itself. The damage is extensive and occurred at several different areas along the trail, with the vast majority being between the Eastman Road and North John B. Dennis Highway crossovers.
Kingsport Parks and Recreation maintenance supervisors are still assessing the extent of the damage and the monetary cost of the associated cleanup and repair, but it will most definitely exceed $1,000, classifying this crime as a felony. A Greenbelt visitor captured a photograph, of a possible person of interest, that has been included with this release. Anyone who recognizes this individual, or who may have any information whatsoever to assist with this investigation and identify the individual(s) responsible, is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D.
