A maroon 2001 Honda Accord 4-door sedan, driven and solely occupied by a 17 year old male juvenile (not identified due to his minor age), was northbound in the 2900 block of North John B. Dennis Highway in Kingsport. Meanwhile, a red 2018 Chevrolet Cruze 4-door sedan, driven and solely occupied by Shirley M. Kilgore, was southbound on the same section of roadway.

Ms. Kilgore attempted a left turn toward a private property and turned her Chevrolet into the path of the Honda resulting in an angular collision. The juvenile driver of the Honda was properly restrained and only sustained suspected minor injuries; however, Ms. Kilgore was not wearing her seatbelt and sustained serious injuries. She was transported via ambulance to an area medical facility for treatment where she remains hospitalized in critical condition.

This crash remains under investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. As such, no further details are available for release at this time.
