|On December 9, 2020 at approximately 3:00 PM, Michael Cody Vermillion was arrested at his residence, located at 3836 Eastline Drive, Miller Village Apartments #84 in Kingsport, by Kingsport Police Department Patrol Officers on an outstanding warrant for 8 counts each of Stalking and Harassment.
This arrest warrant stemmed from a recent Grand Jury indictment following a lengthy investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division. No less than eight female victims had reported similar events taking place over the past several months where they were the recipients of communications from Mr. Vermillion.
The victims stated that Mr. Vermillion had repeatedly contacted them on Social Media utilizing multiple fabricated Instagram accounts and/or called or texted them from several different telephone numbers created via a fictitious telephone number generating application.
In the series of unsolicited correspondence, Mr. Vermillion made a variety of inappropriate and offensive comments that made his victims feel extremely uncomfortable and ultimately put them in fear for their own personal safety.
Following his arrest, Mr. Vermillion was booked into the Kingsport City Jail. He was later transferred to the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville; however, he has since been released after posting a $7,500 bond.
