NEWS RELEASE | |||
SUBJECT: | Suspect Sought in Scheme Involving Pre-Paid Visa Cards
DATE: | September 18, 2020
CASE #: | 20-019339 | ||
GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
Kingsport Police Detectives are attempting to identify a black female suspect who is believed to be responsible for swindling two local store clerks into loading nearly $1,000 in funds onto pre-paid Visa cards without actually paying for either transaction. The suspect was obviously educated on the process of activating and funding the cards and used this knowledge to deceive the clerks.
One of these incidents occurred on September 8, 2020 at approximately 2:00 PM at the Roadrunner Market, located at 101 Hospitality Place in Kingsport, while the other incident occurred on September 9, 2020 at approximately 4:30 PM at Dollar General, located at 1649 East Stone Drive in Kingsport. The suspect is believed to be traveling in a white Audi 4-door sedan, possibly a mid-2000s model. Photos of the suspect, taken from store surveillance video, have been included in this release, while a clip of the actual footage has also been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube channel via the link below: Anyone who recognizes her or the description of her vehicle is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D.
