| Thursday evening’s shooting incident remains under active investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division.
Based upon the Detectives’ findings thus far, it is believed that the shooting occurred during some sort of transaction, either inside or directly adjacent to the injured individual’s vehicle, in the parking lot of Beasonwell Apartments, located at 901 New Beasonwell Road in Kingsport. The person who was shot is a 23 year old white male adult. As of the time of this release, he remains hospitalized at an area medical facility in critical condition. This appears to have been an isolated incident with no immediate danger to the public at large. While the shooting appears to be have involved known acquaintances, the exact identity of the shooter continues to be the primary focus of the investigation. No further information is available for release at this time. Additional details will be shared if and when they become available, but only at the appropriate point in the investigation. As previously released: The Kingsport Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident. On October 17, 2019 at approximately 7:30 PM, K.P.D. Patrol Officers were on the scene of a completely unrelated matter near the intersection of East Stone Drive at New Beason Well Road when they were approached by an injured individual who appeared to have sustained at least one gunshot wound. That individual has been transported to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. The shooting incident itself remains under active investigation. Detectives are still trying to piece together what actually happened, with many factors, to include exactly when and where the shooting occurred, remaining uncertain. As such, no further information is available for release at this time. Additional details will be shared if and when they become available, but only at the appropriate point in the investigation. |
