GENERAL NARRATIVE

Officers with the Kingsport Police Department were involved in a high-speed pursuit where Donovan L. Diggs, a 20-year-old wanted for the charge of attempted first degree murder, fled in a vehicle after he was found in the area of Eastman Road and Fort Henry Drive. The pursuit ended on John B. Dennis Highway where the suspect’s vehicle was forcefully stopped. The suspect was air lifted to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries, and his 16-year-old juvenile passenger was sent to a local hospital for treatment of what were believed to be minor injuries. Due to the passenger being a juvenile, no additional information will be given regarding their identity. There were no civilian or law enforcement injuries.

GENERAL NARRATIVE

The Kingsport Police Department is aware of a scam where citizens are receiving text messages from individuals who are representing themselves as the Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). In these messages, an example of which is included below, the scammers are indicating that you, the contacted person, have an outstanding traffic ticket that has not been paid. The message states that vehicle registrations and driving privileges will be suspended if payment is not received, and them they provide a website link where you can remit payment. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. The Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles does not communicate in this fashion and will always send out information in the form of emails that end with @tn.gov. Also, citizens are encouraged to always call any government agency to double check that any communication they have received is from the corresponding agency.

 

Several legitimate phone numbers for the Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles can be found at https://www.tn.gov/safety/contact.html. We here at the Kingsport Police Department encourage our citizens to be careful in clicking any suspicious links, especially ones that do not end with a .gov web address.

The Kingsport Police Department is searching for 17-year-old, Aryanna Stovall. Aryanna is believed to have left voluntarily from an address on New Beason Well Road. Aryanna is a white female, with a height of approximately 4’11” and weight of roughly 120 pounds. Aryanna was last seen wearing a pair of black leggings and a black sweatshirt. Aryanna has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a runaway Juvenile.

Public Safety Day

The Kingsport Police Department, in conjunction with the Kingsport Fire Department, Kingsport Lifesaving Crew, and Sullivan County Emergency Medical Services, is proud to announce the 2025 Public Safety Day. The event will be held at the Farmer’s Market located at 308 Clinchfield Street on Monday, June the 9th from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. This event is open to the public and is free of charge! Children and adults are both encouraged to attend. The Kingsport Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the evening hours of Saturday, May the 17th 2025. The location of the incident was the Marathon Gas convenience store at 1300 East Stone Drive. At this stage in the investigation, we are seeking any assistance from the public in identifying the suspect. The suspect was described by the store clerk as a black male who left in a red or maroon sedan.

KPD e-News Release: Kingsport Detectives Investigating Discovery of Adult Human Remains (Update: Remains Identified)

SUBJECT: Kingsport Detectives Investigating Discovery of Human Remains (Update: Remains Identified)

DATE: May 19th, 2025

GENERAL NARRATIVE

Update: The human remains discovered near the 3700 block of East Stone Drive on March 13th, 2025, have been identified as Lawrence Miller by the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson City, TN. Lawrence was last seen in January of 2024 in Atlanta, GA. Lawrence had not been in contact with his family since that time. The manner of death listed post-autopsy was suicide.

 

As previously released:

 

On March 13th, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM, Kingsport Police Department Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to the 3700 block of East Stone Drive in Kingsport in reference to the discovery of human remains, believed to be that of an adult male, which were found in a wooded area.

 

The on-site investigation is ongoing, with assistance from Forensic Examiners with the East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine. No further details are currently available for release, as this is an active investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available, but only at an appropriate point in the investigation.
