On September 19, 2019 at approximately 2:30 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on North John B. Dennis Highway near Memorial Boulevard. Due to the severe nature of the crash, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit was called to the scene. Their subsequent investigation revealed the following:
A white 1995 Lincoln Town Car 4-door sedan, occupied by driver, Jonathon Tyler Winston, and front seat passenger, Jacob L. Clark, was northbound on North John B. Dennis Highway, just past Memorial Boulevard, at a high rate of speed. Mr. Winston lost control of the vehicle, which slid sideways and exited the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a rock embankment and then rolled, coming to a final rest in the median.
Responding Officers located Mr. Winston outside of the vehicle and seriously injured. He was transported to a local hospital by Sullivan County E.M.S. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Mr. Clark sustained possible injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Sullivan County E.M.S. for evaluation.
This crash remains under open and active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. As such, no additional details are available for release at this time. |
