Having said that, people are still being asked to stay away from the facility unless they have a specific need to be there, as an active criminal investigation is still underway.

As previously released:

On June 8, 2019 at approximately 7:30 PM the Kingsport Police Department was notified of a shooting incident at Meadowview Conference Resort and Convention Center, located at 1901 Meadowview Parkway in Kingsport. The preliminary investigation has revealed the following:

1) A criminal incident has transpired which has resulted in at least one gunshot being fired and at least one victim being struck by gunfire.

2) That victim has been transported to an area healthcare facility for medical treatment.

3) The suspect is still at large, but is believed to have already left the scene.

4) There is currently still a strong police presence at the facility.

Anyone not at the facility is asked to please stay away to allow the police to investigate the incident without interference. Anyone at the facility is instructed to please specifically follow all instructions from the police and hotel staff to the letter.

The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division is in the preliminary stages of their investigation into the incident. No further details are available for release at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and at the appropriate point in that investigation.
