| On December 7, 2018 as of 4:00 PM, southbound I-81 is back open for traffic.
As previously released: On December 7, 2018 at approximately 2:30 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to Interstate 81 near the Interstate 26 interchange in reference to a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer. As of the time of issuance of this news release, southbound I-81 is completely blocked. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid this area if at all possible, and seek an alternate route, so as to avoid unnecessary congestion and delays. Anyone already in the immediate area is asked to slow down, be patient, pay attention, an obey all traffic instructions. Specific information regarding the crash itself is not available at this time. |
