| SUBJECT: | Pedestrian Killed in West Stone Drive Motor Vehicle Collision | ||

| GENERAL NARRATIVE | |||
| On September 25, 2018 at approximately 9:45 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to the intersection of West Stone Drive at Lynn Garden Drive in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Due to the seriousness of the injuries to the pedestrian, the K.P.D. Traffic Unit was called to the scene to investigate.
Based upon their preliminary assessment, Investigators determined that a black 2014 Ford Fusion compact 4-door sedan, driven by Toni A. Fitzgerald, was westbound on West Stone Drive in the far left lane, and appears to have been traveling lawfully through the intersection. A pedestrian, identified as Tamara J. King, was attempting to cross West Stone Drive in a southbound direction. Ms. King was struck as she crossed into the path of Ms. Fitzgerald’s vehicle in the traffic lane. She was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center by Sullivan County E.M.S. for emergency medical treatment; however, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital. Ms. Fitzgerald was not injured during the incident. This crash remains under open and active investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit. As such, no additional details are available for release at the present time. |
