NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Detectives Seeking Tips in Robbery of Individual in Laundromat Parking Lot
DATE: January 18, 2018
CASE #: 18-001356
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On Sunday evening, January 14, 2018 at approximately 7:00 PM, a citizen reported being robbed by an unidentified male suspect in the parking lot of Lotza Suds Laundry, located at 912 Bloomingdale Pike in Kingsport.

The victim (59 year old male adult) stated that he was sitting in his parked vehicle, talking on his cell phone, when the crime occurred. The suspect allegedly attacked without warning or provocation, opening the victim’s car door and striking him in the face. Following the initial assault, the victim reports being dragged from his vehicle, thrown to the ground, and placed in a “neck hold.”

The victim stated that the suspect choked him and demanded that he turn over his money. When the victim offered what little cash he was carrying in his wallet, the suspect stole his wallet anyway and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Due to the dynamic nature of the assault, the victim was unable to give a thorough description of his attacker. The wallet was turned into the Kingsport Police Department the following afternoon after a citizen reportedly found it in the middle of the road.

With very few leads to pursue, Detectives from the Kingsport Police Department Criminal Investigations Division who are investigating the incident are seeking tips from citizens who might have witnessed the incident or have additional information that might assist with the investigation.

Tips can be called into either the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or to Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.

Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link:
