On July 13, 2017 at approximately 6:30 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers were called to Indian Path Medical Center, located at 2000 Brookside Drive in Kingsport, in reference to the arrival of a patient seeking treatment for apparent stab wounds.
Officers spoke with the victim, a 44 year old white male adult of Kingsport, who advised that he had gone to an apartment building, located at 3923 Lynda Lane in Kingsport, to check on a friend. The victim stated that his friend’s boyfriend, Shannon B. Bowlin, was at the apartment.
The victim and Mr. Bowlin were already acquainted with one another prior to this incident. The victim told officers that an argument ensued between him and Mr. Bowlin that culminated with Mr. Bowlin stabbing him. The victim retreated to his mother’s house, who in turn transported him to the hospital for treatment.
Officers went to the scene of the incident, and while not immediately locating Mr. Bowlin, they were able to find evidence of the aforementioned incident to include what appeared to be blood droplets in the doorway of the residence. Officers began searching for Mr. Bowlin throughout the Kingsport area.
Approximately 3 ½ hours later, officers located Mr. Bowlin in the driver’s seat of a black Jeep Wrangler, parked at North Plaza Package Store, located at 812 Lynn Garden Drive. He was ordered out of the car, but he became non-compliant and refused to follow instructions.
When officers attempted to take him into custody, he tried to twist away, necessitating them taking him down to the ground to get him handcuffed safely and without further incident. At the time of his arrest, officers learned that he also had an outstanding warrant out of Sullivan County for Violation of Probation.
Mr. Bowlin was transported to the Kingsport City Jail where he remains confined in lieu of a $16,000 bond as specified by the presiding magistrate. In addition to the pre-existing warrant, he has been charged by K.P.D. with 1) Aggravated Assault and 2) Resisting Arrest. |
