NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Previously Reported I-81 Single Vehicle Rollover Crash Results in Death of Driver
DATE: April 24, 2017
CASE #: 17-009377
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On April 24, 2017 at approximately 12:00 Noon, Kingsport Police Patrol and Traffic Enforcement Officers responded to the scene of a single vehicle rollover crash on southbound Interstate 81 at approximately the 64 mile-marker. The resultant investigation revealed the following:

A white 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size sport utility vehicle, driven by Daisy D. Fox of Afton, TN, was southbound on I-81 when for unknown reasons the vehicle veered left out of the traffic lane into the adjacent median. The initial investigation indicated that Ms. Fox may have over-corrected, throwing the vehicle into an unrecoverable spin.

As the vehicle re-entered the roadway, it began to flip. The vehicle continued to roll off the right side of the roadway where it struck a tree before finally coming to a rest. Ms. Fox sustained extremely serious injuries and was flown by medical transport helicopter to Holston Valley Medical Center where she was ultimately pronounced deceased.

This crash remains under investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit.
