SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Investigating Shooting at Lee Apartments

On August 17, 2016 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Kingsport Police Department was notified of a shooting incident that had occurred somewhere in the vicinity of Lee Apartments, located at 607 Dale Street in Kingsport. A 30 year old white male victim had arrived at one of the apartments and told the resident that he had just been shot. The reporting resident did not personally know the victim.

Multiple officers from the K.P.D. Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions rushed to the scene. Responding officers observed what initially appeared to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the side of the victim’s neck. Sullivan County E.M.S. responded and transported the victim to an area medical facility for treatment.

This remains an ongoing investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division with Detectives currently working to establish the specific location of the actual crime scene as well as the identity of the suspect. Due to the active and uncertain nature of this investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
