SUBJECT: Local Christian Men’s Event Collects Offering for Law Enforcement Benevolence and Presents Check to K.P.D.
DATE: July 25, 2016
On Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 6:00 PM, a Christian Men’s Event titled “Get in the Game” was held at Central Baptist Church, located at 301 Carver Street in Kingsport, with over 300 men in attendance. Organized by Pastor Greg DePriest of Christ Fellowship Church, and Pastor Perry Stuckey and Deacon Paul Montgomery of Central Baptist Church, the primary goal of “Get in the Game” was to encourage men to become engaged as leaders in their homes and throughout their communities and serve as positive role models for youth.

One of the highlights of this event was guest motivational speaker, Jonathan Evans, who currently serves as Chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys. An accomplished athlete, Jonathan played college football for Baylor University and went on to play fullback in the National Football League from 2005 to 2009. He is the son of Dr. Tony Evans, a respected evangelical pastor, teacher, and speaker, and author of the book “Kingdom Man.” Jonathan co-wrote the book “Get in the Game” with his father.

During the event, an offering was collected from those in attendance. A check for the total of $1,659.51 was then presented to the Kingsport Police Department to be used for Law Enforcement Benevolence. Lieutenant Tom Wayt was present to receive the check for K.P.D. and had this to say: “I am completely overwhelmed by this showing of leadership, support, and generosity from these members of our community. It is times like this that make this job worth doing. On behalf of the Kingsport Police Department, I would like to express our sincere gratitude.”
