SUBJECT: Kingsport Police Recognize Officers at Promotion, Awards, and Swearing-In Ceremony
DATE: July 14, 2016
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On July 13, 2016 at 4:00 PM, the Kingsport Police Department recognized several officers at a Promotion, Awards, and Swearing-In Ceremony. The ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, located at 300 West Market Street in Downtown Kingsport.

During the ceremony the following officers were recognized for recent promotions:

1) Randall Gore was promoted to Captain and currently serves on the Command Staff overseeing the Administrative Bureau.

2) Tom Wayt was promoted to Lieutenant and currently serves as a Patrol Watch Commander on 3rd Platoon.

3) Steve Hammonds was promoted to Lieutenant and currently serves as the Executive Director of Kingsport 9-1-1.

4) Darell Johnson was promoted to Sergeant and currently serves as a Supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division.

5) Micah Johnston was promoted to Sergeant and currently oversees officer training in the Professional Standards Unit.

6) Randy Murray was promoted to Sergeant and is currently assigned to the Strategic Operations Unit as the Crime Analyst.

7) Seth Brumfield was promoted to Corporal and currently serves as a First Line Patrol Supervisor and Primary Field Training Officer on 3rd Platoon.

8) Mike Burnette was promoted to Corporal and currently serves as a First Line Patrol Supervisor and Primary Field Training Officer on 1st Platoon.

9) Dustin Jackson was promoted to Corporal and currently serves as a First Line Patrol Supervisor and Primary Field Training Officer on 4th Platoon.

10) Justin McConnell was promoted to Corporal and currently serves as a First Line Detective Supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division.

11) Noah Tidwell was promoted to Corporal and currently serves as a First Line Patrol Supervisor and Primary Field Training Officer on 2nd Platoon.

The following officers were recognized for recent performance above and beyond the call of duty:

1) School Resource Officer Rick Marshall received the Life Saving Medal for rendering emergency medical aid to a bleeding victim.

2) Officer Joey Moody received the Life Saving Medal for rendering emergency medical aid to a choking victim.

3) Corporal Dustin Jackson received a Certificate of Commendation for his extensive hard work and dedication toward the Governor’s Highway Safety Office Law Enforcement Challenge.

4) School Resource Officer Brad Conkin received a Certificate of Commendation for his extensive hard work and dedication toward the assembly of emergency preparedness kits for every classroom at John Sevier Middle School.

5) Officer Jesse Griggs received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in D.U.I. enforcement.

6) Officer Matt McGuire received 4 Certificates of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in D.U.I., speed, and seatbelt enforcement and crash investigation.

7) Officer Abby Ford received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for her recent performance in D.U.I. enforcement.

8) Sergeant Steve Summey received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in speed enforcement.

9) Officer Aaron Grimes received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in speed enforcement.

10) Officer Kevin Ewing received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in answering citizen calls for service.

11) Officer Jordan Caldwell received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in apprehending criminals.

12) Officer Cliff Ferguson received a Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Police Work for his recent performance in crash investigation.

The following new officers took their oath and were officially sworn in. They will be attending the Walters State East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy in the coming weeks:

1) Officer Travis Bates

2) Officer Timothy Compton

3) Officer Steven Good

4) Officer Lucas Hensley

5) Officer Tallas Snodgrass

6) Officer Anthony Pelekakis

Following the ceremony, Chief of Police David Quillin offered these words: “I am extremely proud of each and every one of these officers and their recent achievements. They represent the Kingsport Police Department and the law enforcement profession with courage and integrity. I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve alongside them.”

The Kingsport Police Department would like to congratulate these officers and wish them the utmost success in all of their current and future endeavors.
