|On March 26, 2016, shortly before 10:00 AM, a passing motorist notified Kingsport Central Dispatch of a single vehicle motorcycle crash at the intersection of Mullins Street and Ridgecrest Avenue in Kingsport. The crash initially appears to have been unwitnessed; therefore, it is currently unknown exactly what time it occurred. Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Crash Investigators responded to the scene. Their subsequent investigation revealed the following:
A 2015 Suzuki GSXR-750 sport/racing style motorcycle, operated by Cody J. Bowen, was negotiating a right turn from eastbound Mullins Street to southbound Ridgecrest Avenue. For unknown reasons, Mr. Bowen apparently lost control of the motorcycle during the turn. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, and Mr. Bowen was thrown from the bike. He was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center by Sullivan County E.M.S. for treatment.
Mr. Bowen remains hospitalized with serious/life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
