|On January 8, 2016 at approximately 2:00 PM, the Kingsport Police Department was alerted of an incident, which occurred shortly beforehand at a private residence in Kingsport, that resulted in the serious injury of a four year old boy. Kingsport Police Detectives responded to investigate.
The investigation revealed that the boy was injured while at the residence of his father, Marco N. Bobo, located at 2005 Michelham Drive. Mr. Bobo was shooting a high-powered adult pellet rifle at targets that he had placed across the street from the home. During this activity, the child was shot one time in the head resulting in serious injury.
The boy was initially rushed to Holston Valley Medical Center for emergency medical treatment, but he has since been transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
On the afternoon of January 11, 2016 Detectives obtained a warrant charging Mr. Bobo with Reckless Aggravated Assault. At approximately 10:30 PM that evening, Mr. Bobo was arrested in Knoxville. He is currently being held without eligibility for bond in the custody of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, awaiting transportation back to Kingsport.
This remains an open and active investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division. Due to the sensitive nature of the situation and the minor age of the child, no additional information will be released at this time.
