SUBJECT: Two Customers Injured When Vehicle Crashes into Restaurant
DATE: October 7, 2015
CASE #: 15-021908
On October 7, 2015 at approximately 1:00 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to Skip’s Diner, located at 4366 West Stone Drive in Kingsport, in reference to a vehicle crashing into the building. Their investigation revealed the following:

Ballard Wolfe was attempting to park his 2006 Toyota Camry in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. Mr. Wolfe stated that he accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. The Camry struck a 2012 Jeep Patriot which was legally parked and unoccupied in front of the business. The Camry then continued forward, jumped the curb, and struck the exterior wall of the business, coming to a stop partially inside the restaurant.

Two customers inside the restaurant received non-incapacitating injuries and were treated at the scene by Sullivan County E.M.S. Neither Mr. Wolfe nor his passenger appeared to be injured and declined medical treatment.

Both Skip’s Diner and another restaurant next door, El Ranchito, sustained structural damage during the crash. As the incident occurred on private property, no citations were issued for any traffic violations.
