NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: K.P.D. Continues Search for Missing Elderly Man
DATE: September 23, 2015
CASE #: 15-020330
GENERAL NARRATIVE
The Kingsport Police Department is continuing to investigate the disappearance of an elderly Kingsport man with Alzheimer’s Disease. Eugene Marshall (also known as “Gene” or “Papaw”) left his residence on Brookwood Circle on foot on September 17, 2015 at approximately 10:30 AM. Mr. Marshall was reported missing shortly thereafter by family members. Due to his medical condition, he does have a history of wandering off and forgetting how to get home.

A large scale search for Mr. Marshall has been organized with a command post being established at the Kingsport Life Saving Crew, located at 1800 Crescent Drive. The Kingsport Police Department, Kingsport Fire Department, Kingsport Life Saving Crew, Sullivan County Emergency Management Association, and Tennessee Emergency Management Association, along with various other public safety organizations are involved.

Dozens of friends, family, neighbors, and community volunteers are also assisting in the search. Searches are being conducted in the areas surrounding his neighborhood and the Kingsport GreenBelt. Multiple locations of reported sightings of Mr. Marshall are being searched as well. Some of these reported sightings have been confirmed, while several others are unconfirmed.

The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division has received numerous tips, and Detectives are currently in the process of investigating and following up all leads. The Kingsport Police Department greatly appreciates all public assistance in this or any other case, and asks that any and all sightings of Mr. Marshall continue to be reported immediately.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a tan button-up shirt, and white athletic shoes. He often dresses in layers, so it is possible that he might be wearing a blue button-up shirt also. He is an 80 year old white male, 5 feet, 10 inches in height, and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has gray hair and hazel eyes and wears glasses. Several photographs and videos of Mr. Marshall have been included in this release.

Anyone who sees Mr. Marshall or may be able to assist the Kingsport Police Department in locating him is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.

Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link:
