SUBJECT: K.P.D. Investigating Circumstances Surrounding Injured Man Found in Roadway

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On May 31, 2015 at approximately 9:15 PM, area first responders were alerted to an injured and unresponsive man lying in the roadway on Summit Drive near the intersection with Stratford Road in Kingsport. The man was transported to a local medical facility by Sullivan County E.M.S. where he remains hospitalized with significant head trauma.

An active investigation has been underway since the date of the incident with Kingsport Police Detectives attempting to determine the circumstances surrounding his injury. Detectives have been able to determine that the man regularly walked that particular route. It is unclear at this point whether his injuries were sustained during a fall, an impact by a passing motor vehicle, an assault, or some other means.
