|On February 5, 2014 at approximately 6:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to a report of a burglary at Berry’s Pharmacy, located at 1717 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. The suspect had already left prior to the incident being reported to law enforcement; however, responding officers observed broken glass that had resulted from forced entry to the business. Officers also located dried blood on the floor of the pharmacy. A significant quantity of commonly abused prescription medication was stolen during the incident.
Surveillance video revealed that the incident had occurred at approximately 4:30 AM that morning, and a lone individual was responsible. The suspect was attired in a heavy winter coat, yet strangely wore shorts and no shoes. K.P.D. issued a news release at the time, complete with photos and surveillance video, requesting public assistance. A link to the original news release is included below:
During the course of the investigation by the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division, Tiffany H. Phillips (also known as Tiffany Davenport) was developed as a person of interest. After further inquiry and through D.N.A. analysis, Ms. Phillips was positively identified as the suspect in question.
On March 4, 2015 Ms. Phillips was indicted by the Sullivan County Grand Jury and a bench warrant was issue for her arrest, charging her with Burglary and Theft over $1,000. On April 20, 2015, Ms. Phillips turned herself in at the Kingsport Justice Center. She was processed in the Kingsport City Jail and then transferred to the Sullivan County Jail where she remains incarcerated in lieu of a $15,000 bond as set by the presiding judge.
