|On March 26, 2015 at approximately 9:00 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers and Detectives were called to the Holston Valley Medical Center Emergency Room in Kingsport, in reference to an alleged stabbing incident. Officers spoke with Jose Reynaldo Amaya Rodriguez who was being treated for non-life threatening knife wounds. He had been transported to the hospital by a family member. He has since been discharged from the hospital.
Mr. Amaya Rodriguez claimed that the incident occurred at approximately 6:45 AM that morning. He stated that he was sitting in his car in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 4000 block of West Stone Drive in Kingsport. He said that he was stabbed during an attempted robbery by three unknown white male suspects. He claimed that after the attack, he drove all the way home to Rogersville and then his wife drove him all the way back to the hospital in Kingsport.
The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division has been in periodic communication with Mr. Amaya Rodriguez, attempting to determine the exact time of the incident and the precise location where the alleged incident occurred. Further investigation has determined that the reported incident never occurred. He was in fact stabbed by someone, but not by the three white males he described, not during an attempted robbery, and not inside the city limits of Kingsport.
Detectives now believe that the stabbing occurred at another location in Hawkins County outside the city limits of Kingsport. Any further inquiries regarding the alleged stabbing incident should be directed to the Rogersville Police Department.
K.P.D. Detectives have obtained a warrant, charging Mr. Amaya Rodriguez with Filing a False Police Report, which is a Class D Felony. He currently remains at large. Anyone who knows where he may be located is asked to contact detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
