SUBJECT: (UPDATE: SUSPECT IDENTIFIED) Female Suspect Sought in Belk Shoplifting Case
DATE: March 27, 2015
CASE #: 15-000904
UPDATE: The suspect in this case has been positively identified and charges are pending. This is still an active investigation, and her name will not be publicly released at this time. The Kingsport Police Department would like to thank area residents for the more than three dozen tips that led to her being identified as the suspect in question.

As previously released:

On January 14, 2015 at approximately 2:45 PM, an unidentified white female suspect with long brown hair attempted to shoplift over $1,500 in clothing from Belk in the Kingsport Town Center (Fort Henry Mall) located at 2101 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. Loss prevention officers were able to interrupt the crime in progress and recover the merchandise; however, they were unable to prevent her escape. She fled the scene in what is believed to be a silver Ford Focus compact 4-door sedan displaying a license plate issued by the State of Kentucky. The vehicle was driven by another unidentified individual.

This same suspect has successfully shoplifted from Belk on at least two prior occasions with the total value of her loot exceeding $1,000. Photos of her and the getaway vehicle taken from surveillance video footage are included in this release. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the vehicle or who may have any information which may help detectives solve this case is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.

Alternatively, if an individual who is able to supply information related to this or any other case wishes not to be identified, tips can be submitted anonymously via online “Citizen Feedback” forms available at the following link:
