NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Debit Card in Wallet Stolen at Johnson City Night Club Used in Fraudulent Kingsport Shopping Spree
DATE: March 27, 2015
CASE #: 15-004100 (IHOP)

15-004101(Wal-Mart)

15-004012 (Exxon/Mobil)

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On February 28, 2015 at approximately 2:30 AM, a woman’s wallet was stolen while she was at the Electric Cowboy in Johnson City. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 4:45 AM, a debit card that had been in that wallet was used to make a fraudulent purchase for $28.74 at IHOP, located at 1201 East Stone Drive in Kingsport.

Less than an hour later, the same debit card was used to make two back-to-back fraudulent purchases ($382.16 and $109.41 respectively) at Wal-Mart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. A third fraudulent purchase for $487.08 was attempted at the same Wal-Mart, but in that instance the card was declined. Among the items purchased at Wal-Mart was an X-Box One video game system.

Immediately following the Wal-Mart purchases, the debit card was used for a fraudulent purchase of $60.23 at an area Exxon/Mobil gas station.

Three black male suspects were captured by video surveillance cameras while they were conducting the Wal-Mart transactions. Several photos of these individuals are included in this release. Also included is a photo of a white 4-door sedan in which the trio was traveling at the time. The vehicle has a tinted glass moon roof and appears to possibly be a Nissan Altima.

Anyone who recognizes any of these individuals or their vehicle, or who may have any information that may help detectives solve this case, is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
