|On February 12, 2015 at approximately 10:00 PM, Kingsport Vice Detectives responded to 604 Milton Court in Kingsport to investigate a complaint of drug activity. Detectives spoke with the resident, identified as Rico Aguilar Candido, who gave them consent to search his residence for narcotics.
Mr. Candido informed the detectives that he had a handgun in a safe in his bedroom. A second handgun was located during the search under a pillow on the bed in the same room. He informed the detectives that the handguns were there for his protection.
Also located during the search was a small clear plastic baggie containing blue pills later identified as Xanax. Additional items of paraphernalia including baggies and scales were seized as well. The scales were covered with a white residue that tested positive for Cocaine. Detectives also located and seized approximately $300 in cash and change as suspected profits from previous drug transactions.
Mr. Candido was also in possession of multiple fake identification cards. One of these cards that was perhaps the easiest to detect as being fake was a Mexican Identification Card that was mysteriously printed in the English language. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Candido was in the United States illegally.
Mr. Candido was arrested for Possession of a Schedule IV Drug (Xanax) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (baggies and scales). As Possession of a Firearm by an Illegal Immigrant is a Federal Offense, this case will be forwarded to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) for further investigation.
Mr. Candido was confined in the Kingsport City Jail where, at the time of this news release, he remained confined in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
