|On August 25, 2014, shortly before 4:00 PM, Kingsport Central Dispatch was notified of a fatal motor vehicle collision at 3743 Hemlock Park Circle in Kingsport. This residence is located adjacent to Fort Patrick Henry Lake.
Multiple public safety agencies, including the Kingsport Police Department responded. An investigation into the crash by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit revealed the following:
A white 1998 Lincoln Town Car 4-door sedan was being driven into the driveway of this residence by Inez N. Summers, when for unknown reasons she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the carport, made contact with the structure, then overrode two metal retaining poles at the rear of the carport. The vehicle exited the back of the carport, continued through the yard, crossed over the top of a retaining wall, and came to rest completely submerged in Fort Patrick Henry Lake.
Ms. Summers was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Her deceased body was recovered from the submerged vehicle by rescue divers. Her actual cause of death is unknown at this time.
This case is still under investigation by the K.P.D. Traffic Unit.
