GENERAL NARRATIVE
On March 8, 2014 at approximately 12:10 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol and Traffic Units responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Fort Henry Drive at Atoka Lane in Kingsport.

A 2011 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Kimberly S. Wieger, was northbound on Fort Henry Drive approaching the intersection with Atoka Lane, preparing to make a left turn into the parking lot of Walmart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive. A 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Samuel A. Ireson, Jr., was southbound on Fort Henry Drive preparing to go straight through the intersection with Atoka Lane.

Both vehicles had a green light; however, Ms. Wieger turned her Hyundai into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the Hyundai in the passenger’s side rear door sending both the motorcycle and Mr. Ireson airborne. Upon impact, the Hyundai ignited in flames.
