Upon arrival, officers located a 2003 Honda Civic off the roadway directly in front of Jackson Elementary School. For unknown reasons, the vehicle had run off of an embankment and had come to rest on the passenger’s side with the roof of the vehicle resting against a tree.

The driver, later identified as Dustin Kaywood, had been partially ejected, but was still pinned inside the vehicle. Members of the Kingsport Fire Department and Sullivan County E.M.S. responded and were able to extricate Mr. Kaywood from the vehicle.
