General Narrative(Insert in box below)

At approximately 8:50 PM the Kingsport Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle and bicycle crash on W. Sullivan St. at Hammond Av. The investigation revealed that the Chevrolet Malibu driven by Mr. Robinson was east bound on W. Sullivan St and was approaching Hammond Avenue when a 12 year old female riding a bicycle south bound on Hammond Av. failed to stop for the stop sign on Hammond Avenue, started to cross W. Sullivan St. and encroached into the path of the Chevrolet. Mr. Robinson attempted to avoid the bicycle by braking and steering to the left, but the right front corner of the vehicle struck the bicycle. The female bicycle rider was transported to Holston Valley Hospital by EMS and was admitted in stable but serious condition. The female was not wearing a helmet and if a helmet had been used the injuries could have been lessened. No charges will be placed against Mr. Robinson and the investigation is ongoing by the Traffic Unit. The name of the 12 year old female will not be released.
Releasing Officer Patrolman Dale Farmer
